Sharing Compassionate Support on InJoy Health Education Podcast (INCAST)

I had the pleasure of joining Debbie Young on the InJoy Health Education podcast to talk about compassionate support for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. This conversation was a meaningful opportunity to share about Doula Synergy and our mission to ensure that families navigating loss have access to continuous, empathetic support through skilled doulas.

During the episode, we explored the emotional, physical, and spiritual complexities of perinatal grief and discussed practical strategies that doulas and other birth workers can use to provide meaningful care. We also highlighted why grief education should be a standard part of training for anyone supporting families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

It was a privilege to share how Doula Synergy works to bridge the gap in care—empowering doulas with training and resources while helping families feel supported, seen, and not alone in the aftermath of loss. We discussed how doulas can offer emotional presence, validate grief, and provide practical assistance to help families navigate one of life’s most difficult experiences.

What Listeners Will Learn:

  • The emotional complexity of perinatal loss and its impact on families

  • How doulas play a critical role in grief and bereavement support

  • Language and communication strategies that validate and honor grief

  • Practical support techniques birth workers can use with grieving families

  • Why grief education should be an essential part of all birth professional training

Listen & Learn:This episode is for anyone who supports families—professionals or loved ones—and is interested in understanding how thoughtful, compassionate care can make a meaningful difference.

Sharing this conversation was a wonderful chance to amplify the work of doulas and highlight how families can receive the emotional and practical support they deserve during pregnancy and infant loss.
